Here’s a detail from the blueprints to my Mom’s condo in Buffalo. A stair tread was built over the old sliding door threshold, which was contoured to shed water to the outside. I installed a railing post in that tread, and it was really handy to have the blueprint to know how far below the tread I’d find concrete, and what fasteners I could use.
