Day 3: Venice evening – Michael what? US fashion invasion!

So I will certainly get something wrong here and Andrew will most certainly correct me but let’s say that Venice was founded in 421 AD and was small villages around the lagoons and then in 639 the Cathedral was built so that they had religion and that people could hide from barbarian invaders. Then from here Venice came up brick by brick on these little islands surrounding the lagoon. Then the islands were linked by bridges. Then in about 726 the Doges’ government is established and in about 814 they began building the Palazzo Ducale (Doges’ Palace) in what is today St. Mark’s Square.   What do you think the doge would think of this?
